PAP taking us for a ride

Serendipitously I caught this at on Facebook today that a certain Dr Paul Tambyah was speaking at Boat Quay this afternoon. He was introduced as a doctor from one of our hospital. I wondered what was he doing there. Tonight I decided to dig further and found his speech which was not available on ge.sg (See http://www.yoursdp.org/index.php/news/singapore/4819-text-of-nuh-prof-dr-paul-tambyahs-speech-at-sdps-rally)

I read it and saw in health care how the government is taking us for a ride.

Many of us have always had that nagging feeling that we are suffering from Pay And Pay and yet cannot put our fingers firmly on it. A guy who is on the other end watching how we have been giving money to the government at least in healthcare has provided us some helpful insight.

We have a faithless and calculative government. Many other first world countries have populist, fiscally irresponsible governments. Can we calibrate it to somewhere between the two poles? I don't think we can count on the PAP to do that. In action, PAP is taking us into a culture of each person or family for itself while preaching social cohesiveness. At this rate the country is going to die rich even as other developed nations might end up destroying themselves by going broke.

Indeed a government that knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.
