Most important post to date: Failure of values here

This must be my most significant post to date for this blog. It tells me how far our school system falls short in instilling the right values especially when I sometimes get reports of how some of our school teams are such bad losers especially Raffles. We have much to learn from this example. We have too much of the win at any cost mentality and nothing matters except winning. That's why we loathe the idea of buying sports talent and that's why we love Laurentia Tan the para-Olympian. They honored her recently as sportswoman of the year and that is totally the right thing to do.

Of course this is a true story but not made in Singapore.

  1. Finally.
    This is an example of foreign talents and values we can benefit from here in Singapore.

    If we want Singaporeans to acquire such values.
    To stand up for each other.
    Then you know what you have to do in GE 2016.

  2. This is a fine example of a memorable quote from Start Trek III:
    "Because the needs of the one ... outweighs the needs of the many."
    Captain Kirk.

    Because they took the time to take care of the needs of the one.
    They have elevated themselves into a higher level of humanity.

    Contrast with our sorry ass values as defined by our self appointed guardian of hard truths;
    'You are an economic digit"
    "Singapore does not owe you a living"
    "welfare mentality"
    "this is for the greater good"

    "An anthropologist proposed a game to African tribe kids. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told them that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?

    UBUNTU in the Xhosa culture means: "I am because we are"
