Leaders: The Good and the Bad

This is what too many leaders in other countries are like. May be this buffoon of Erdogan would have to resign, better if their PM sacked him. Didn't help Erdogan had been so callously insensitive. Makes me wonder how he out performed in recent elections.

Turkey and many even smaller countries can have leaders with such bad attitude and poor behavior without sinking the country. We have seen it again and again. The latest infamous and shameful example must be Nigeria. Even if the Americans and British would to try their best, there is little chance of rescuing the kidnapped school girls. But Nigeria will survive.

PM Lee has impeccable manners. You see it again and again. If we have leaders like any other countries we are sunk. Those who thought otherwise need to have their heads examined. We have such types among us and I hope their numbers stay small. Our pass mark is really high. Foreigners here don't understand. In fact they don't get it for many issues. I had come across immigrant parents of my children schoolmates who were completely clueless about race issues. They compare our government against where they came from and we are first class but they are oblivious of the risks and vulnerabilities we have to live with. Those who claimed they do, their understanding is completely intellectual. The going is really good for them now, why worry about it turning bad? Mostly they are here for dollars and cents, quite different from our parents' generation who made the commitment to Singapore. Will the new immigrants assimilate? I think most will not because it is hard work and actually takes away the attractiveness to them for coming here. Many live in bubbles especially the wealthier ones. Certainly for billionaires who have the wherewithal to make each home they have across the world set up to their fancy.
