One way to understand why there is not new National Day Song for this year's parade is the organizers have lost confidence they can come up with a good one. Next year when we celebrate SG50, you gotta to have a song. This year is an golden opportunity to try again after last year's failure but they apparently don't see it as such.
Of course Dick Lee and others say there isn't a need for a new song every year. Why risk being over shadowed by a more popular winner? For the leaders of this country, the ability to come up with a good song is a test if you have finally succeeded at reconnecting successfully with us. Not clever to throw away such opportunities especially so soon after the YP YouTube fiasco.
People should always keep trying as long as you don't die from it! I have no respect for the risk adverse because they eventually lose, die.
